Traffic Restrictions In Parque das Nações
The Traffic restrictions in Parque das Nações started on October 21st and will last until November 20th. Alameda dos Oceanos and Avenida do Índico, both key routes, are affected. The Public Security Police (PSP) say that restrictions on Alameda dos Oceanos will last until November 20th. The strictest closures will be in place until November 16th which is right after the main dates of the Web Summit.
Alameda dos Oceanos will only be open for emergency vehicles. It will be restricted in the north-to-south direction from the Vice-Reis roundabout to Rua Mar da China. Regular drivers should avoid this route during this time. Avenida do Índico is also closed between Alameda dos Oceanos and Avenida Dom João II. PSP officers have made exceptions for park access and for loading and unloading.
PSP said:
In the entire Alameda dos Oceanos (restricted to emergency vehicles in the north/south direction between the Vice-Reis roundabout and Rua Mar da China) and on Avenida do Índico between Alameda dos Oceanos and Avenida Dom João II, where access to the park and loading and unloading operations will be guaranteed
More Road Closures And Additional Restrictions
More restrictions will start on November 10th and last until November 16th. Rua do Bojador will be closed between Rotunda do Bojador and Alameda dos Oceanos. Also, Avenida da Boa Esperança will be restricted from the Vice-Reis roundabout to the Hotel Myriad. Only authorized vehicles will have access to these roads during this period. Drivers should plan to avoid these roads if possible or consider using public transportation.
Throughout this period, PSP officers will direct traffic and provide alternative routes. They will work to ensure traffic flows as smoothly as possible around the Web Summit. Roads are expected to reopen fully by November 20th with most restrictions easing after November 16th. PSP officers will also be available to help pedestrians and vehicles in the areas near the Web Summit venues.
The Web Summit is one of Lisbon’s largest events. It attracts thousands of people which includes leaders in technology, investors, and startups. Local authorities are working hard to keep traffic flowing and ensure safety during the event. The restrictions serve two main purposes. First, they reduce traffic congestion in the area, helping to prevent delays. Second, the PSP can more easily control crowds and respond to any issues that arise during the event.
PSP Advice For Public
The PSP strongly advises attendees to use public transportation whenever possible. Lisbon has a reliable network of buses, trains, and metro services, which will help people reach Parque das Nações quickly. By avoiding driving, attendees can also avoid restricted areas and parking challenges near the event.
If you must drive, make sure to park your vehicle responsibly. Parking on public roads is allowed but avoid blocking other cars or causing roadblocks. Remember to lock your car and do not leave valuable things inside your vehicle. These small actions can help prevent theft and keep traffic moving.
The PSP has also shared advice for those attending the Web Summit. They recommend not displaying valuable items, such as phones, wallets, or jewelry. Since the event attracts large crowds pickpockets may also be present. Keeping items out of sight helps protect them from theft.
PSP advised:
Do not display or carry valuable objects, as well as large amounts of money; If you are carrying backpacks or suitcases, always keep them closed and close to the front of your body; comply with police orders with full availability, be a facilitating body for police action and do not compromise your safety and that of other citizens; consult the list of objects prohibited from carrying into the event through the ‘APP Web Summit’
Make sure it is closed and keep it in front of your body if you have a backpack or suitcase. This helps keep your belongings safe in crowded spaces.
It is also important to follow instructions from PSP officers. The police are there to keep things safe and organized. Following their directions helps everyone have a better experience. Call 112 in case of emergency which is the main emergency number. The PSP also advises saving the contact number for the PSP Lisbon Metropolitan Command which is 21 765 42 42.
Finally, the PSP recommends checking the list of prohibited items before attending the summit. This information is available through the Web Summit’s official app. Knowing these rules before you arrive will help you avoid delays at security checkpoints.
