10 Million Euros Invested In Higher Education

It has been announced that there will be a major boost in the educational courses in the Algarve. A whopping 10 million Euros of budget has been announced to be spent on courses of higher education. This announcement was made by the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR). The government believes that this fund is essential to spend so the students can learn more about the current curriculum.

This funding has been done by the government to strengthen the aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) in students. The main criteria for this decision by the government was to support the professional Higher Technical Courses all around Algarve. It is supported by the government which thinks that the spending of the budget on education is one of the vital things to do.

The decision has come from the officials to tackle the issue of a lower rate of higher education in the region of the Algarve. It has been reported that a lesser number of students are enrolling in the programs of higher education. The government of the Algarve wants their students to attend the schools and that is why this budget is being spent on education. It is expected by the government that this investment will make the curriculum more interesting. More facilities will be provided to the students for studying in schools and colleges.

Statistics For Students Who Are Enrolled In Higher Education

The Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) has stated some statistics about the students enrolled in higher education in the Algarve region. It is noted that only 25.4 % of the total population in Algarve is enrolled in higher education. This is an astonishingly low rate compared to other regions in the country. The average in Portugal for the normal age group to attend higher education is 42.8 %.

This is why the program of Algarve 2030 has been promoted by the government. It is being emphasized by the government of Algarve that it has targeted to bring the average of 25.4 % up to the national average of the country. This gap will be filled by the program of Algarve 2030 if more focus is placed on professional and technical courses. This way, more students will have opportunities to pursue a higher education system.

This can be done by making partnerships with local employers in various sectors around Portugal. The official statement from CCDR is as follows:

These funds represent a significant portion of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) dedicated to improving qualifications through higher education training.
