Alexandra Evangelista has experience in local politics. She was born in Angola and moved to Portimão at the age of eight. She has held important positions in both regional and local government. Now, she will step into a important role as the representative for the Algarve.
Evangelista To Tackle Important Regional Issues
Evangelista expressed her gratitude and sense of responsibility for taking on this position. The Algarve is currently dealing with several challenges.
Evangelista plans to focus on the most urgent issues that include healthcare, housing, and water shortages which is especially in the western part of the region.
She said:
It’s a privilege to represent the Algarve and serve the country, especially when so many urgent issues demand attention
Improving the healthcare system is one of her major concerns particularly at Portimão Hospital. Local residents have complained about the quality of healthcare. Evangelista has promised to work towards improving healthcare in the Algarve
Housing is another big issue in Algarve. Property prices in the Algarve have risen sharply which makes it difficult for local families and young people to afford homes. Evangelista has committed to addressing this issue in parliament and to make housing more affordable and accessible.
Water scarcity is also a major problem in the western Algarve. The area has been hit by droughts and is facing severe water shortages. Evangelista has said she will focus on finding solutions to this problem and work with officials to ensure the region has enough water for the future.
She said:
I will do my best, but I will pay special attention to regional issues, particularly those in the western Algarve, such as Portimão Hospital, the housing access crisis, or the water shortage, which is more severe in the western Algarve
Cristóvão Norte’s absence is temporary but Evangelista’s role during this time will be crucial. She said that she will make sure that the Algarve continues to have strong representation in parliament. With her experience and connection to the region, many people believe she will do an excellent job.
