Russian Naval Activity Along Portugal’s Coast
He explained that Russian vessels have been traveling both north and south through Portuguese waters. These ships include warships, refueling vessels, research ships, and even a ship designed for electronic spying. Three warships, two refueling ships, three scientific research vessels, and one espionage ship have been spotted over a short period.
He said:
There is a transit in our waters of ships from the Russian Federation, an increasingly intense transit, from North to South and from South to North

Admiral Gouveia e Melo stated:
Our response to this is to follow them, control them, [and] keep them under constant pressure with our constant presence
