It is a crucial step to ensure there is no criminal activity going around the area. The National Republic Guard (GNR) will also be able to monitor the day-to-day activities much better with the presence of CCTV cameras. A fool-proof monitoring system will be installed in Praia do Carvoeiro. This will include several cameras at various locations to cover all the angles of the region. The main road access will also be monitored by a security camera along with other places that are more frequent with tourism.

A new system will be permanently installed by the local authorities, which will include several cameras at different locations. The main monitoring hub will be at the GNR center where officers will be looking at the cameras 24 hours a day. Cost Will Be Covered By Lagoa Council

The total cost for the installation of the CCTV cameras will be covered by the Lagoa Council. The process for the installation of cameras will be done when the GNR has formal authentication from the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI). This will be done when they receive proper approval from the ministry. The Lagoa Council has taken a good initiative, and they are responsible for all the funding of this project. They stated:

[Lagoa Council is] demonstrating its commitment to public safety.

The district commander of GNR, Colonel Marco Henriques has approved of this initiative. He told the public about the importance of this project during the protocol signing ceremony. He further believes that there will be a positive impact from these video surveillance programs. The main aim of this system is to reduce crime in the region and protect the citizens.
